Benefits of Reciting Quran Daily: 6 Powerful Spiritual and Mental Benefits

Assalamu Alaykum

The Holy Quran is the final book sent by Allah, which is a guidance for humans and jinn. For Muslims, this is not just a book but a mercy from Allah. In it, the correct way to live life for humans and jinn has been explained. In it, we are told about the Afterlife. Educate regarding Halal and Haram is provided. And it speaks about those Prophets and Messengers who spent their entire lives in the worship of that God and in educating people to walk on the straight path. You can take inspiration from those Prophets and Messengers. By reading the Quran, peace remains within us, and there are mental and spiritual benefits. In today's era, time is passing quickly, and we worship Allah to find an escape from the hustle and bustle of this world. So today, we will learn: what are the benefits of reciting the Quran daily?

NUMBER 1: STRENGTHENS FAITH (IMAN).

One of the best benefits of reading the Quran is that it strengthens our Iman (faith). The Quran reminds us of Allah's power, mercy, wisdom, and His justice. When a person reads the Quran every day, his Iman remains fresh and peace remains in his heart. Allah said in the Quran:

“Indeed, it is the remembrance of Allah that hearts find rest.”(Quran 13:28)

Reading the Quran every day increases awareness of Allah. It reminds a person of their purpose in living and removes doubts from their heart and mind. And remember that the Quran is a guidance for mankind. So, if possible, you should read the Quran in your own language—meaning read a translated Quran—so that you can understand the Quran properly.

NUMBER 2: INNER PEACE AND MENTAL CALMNESS.

In modern life, people are always worried and trapped in entanglements—anxiety, stress, emotional struggles, trauma, etc. When people read the Quran or listen to it, a good, peaceful feeling awakens from within. That rhythmic recitation of the Quran moves the heart. This is not just my saying; rather, many people say that it helps them in finding an escape from mental stress, trauma, and emotional struggles. Non-Muslims also say that they find peace by listening to the Quran. By listening to the Quran, negative thoughts do not come. Many people do not know the Arabic language, but they find peace in listening to the Quran.

NUMBER 3: GUIDENCE IN WORLD AND AFTERLIFE.

In the Quran, you are told about this world and the Afterlife. In it, advice has been given to you on how the worldly life should be spent.

"I have left among you two things, if you hold fast to them you will never go astray: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah." (Final Sermon of Prophet Muhammad ï·º)

In it, you are told clearly to walk on the straight path that pleases Allah. Educating on Haram and Halal has been given. The life of this world is a test. To achieve success in that test, the Quran has told us about right and wrong. Now, when you read the Quran—especially when you read it with understanding—rest assured that a change will surely come in your character. When you know the difference between right and wrong, you will also stay away from committing sins.

NUMBER 4: EARN IMMENSE REWARDS.

By reading the Quran daily, you receive high rewards. As the Messenger of Allah ï·º said:

“Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah will receive one good deed, and that good deed will be multiplied by ten.” (Tirmidhi 2910)

According to this, if someone recites even a single letter in the Quran, Allah will give them a very great reward. They will receive one good deed, which will later be multiplied by ten. Just imagine from this, if you recite the Quran every day, how much reward (Sawaab) you will receive in a day. Even if you are facing difficulty in reading Arabic, Allah will give reward for that too, just because the person tried. Islam is perfect, but Muslims are not perfect. So, if you are having difficulty reading Arabic, it is no matter; you can learn slowly—there is no compulsion on anyone.

NUMBER 5: INTERCESSION ON THE DAY OF JUDGMENT.

Another major benefit of reading the Quran is its intercession on the Day of Judgment. This means that on the Day of Resurrection, the Quran you read will stand with you and defend you. What I mean is that it will support you and advocate for you on that Day.

“Recite the Quran, for it will come as an intercessor for its companions on the Day of Resurrection.” (Muslim 804a)

The Holy Prophet ï·º has stated that whoever recites Surah Al-Baqarah and Surah Al-Imran, those two Surahs will appear as clouds over you on the Day of Judgment to provide you with shade. Furthermore, reciting Surah Al-Baqarah especially causes Shaytan and magic to flee from the house. This is narrated in a Hadith:

“Do not turn your houses into graveyards. Shaytan flees from a house in which Surah Al-Baqarah is recited.” (Muslim 780)

So, as much as possible, read Surah Al-Baqarah and Surah Al-Imran every day. If reading is not possible, you can simply listen to them. There are many videos on YouTube where you can play these.

NUMBER 6: INTERCESSION IN THE GRAVE.

There is another very special Surah that will grant you salvation from the punishment of the grave. Perhaps many of you do not know, but reciting Surah Al-Mulk will provide you with deliverance from the punishment of the grave.

"O Messenger of Allah, I unknowingly pitched my tent over a grave, only to hear the person inside reciting Surah al-Mulk until they finished it." The Prophet (ï·º) responded: "That Surah is the defender and the deliverer; it protects and saves the believer from the punishment of the grave." (Tirmidhi 2890)

As you have seen, reading Surah Al-Mulk grants us salvation from the punishment of the grave. Many scholars say that we should recite Surah Al-Mulk before sleeping. Reciting it brings light into your grave. You can also recite it during your Salah; meaning, read it after you have finished Surah Al-Fatiha. I recommend reciting it during Isha or Fajr. In one narration, it is mentioned that when the punishment of the grave approaches from the direction of the feet, the feet will say, "Stop, you have no power over me because he used to stand and recite me during prayer." Alternatively, you can read it before sleeping, which is the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ï·º.

CONCLUSION:

So, these were the benefits of reading the Quran. What I have told you is nothing compared to the full extent; the Quran is the Word of Allah. When you read the Quran, you are reading the words of Allah. There are many other benefits to reading the Quran. Reciting Ayat-ul-Kursi, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas protects you from the evil eye, negative thoughts, and many other things. Reading the Quran brings changes to your character. You see a new ray of hope for walking on the right path in life. It fills hardened hearts with Allah's mercy and brings them back to life. Reading the Quran gives you peace of mind. The Quran helps you with memorization, focus, and discipline. And finally, I just want to say that whenever you read the Quran, understand it and read it in your own language so that you can comprehend it and act upon it.

That is all for today. We will meet on a new topic next. Take care of yourself and your family. May Allah forgive all our sins and accept our supplications. Ameen.
